One piece of graph (1O to inch), two sizes of pricking

I first came across this idea whilst working on my four-year lace course. I feel this is one to be shared. It is so simple and so useful, for instance, when designing things like dressing table sets, dinner table sets, or just a way of accurately shrinking a design. Yes, I expect like me you have used the local photocopier, and probably, like me been disappointed by the inaccuracy of the pricking. The photocopier might be quicker, but when you have spent time designing a beautiful lace pattern, I feel it is worth that little extra time spent, going for accuracy. Try it  it’s easy!

The original pattern and lace

The technique

PRICKING B
This was ploffed with the graph paper turned to 45 degree angle.
Both patterns took 23 pairs of bobbins.

PRICKING A
This was plotted with the graph paper in the usual way.

THREAD COTTON
A.36/3
B.60/2

NOTE
Please note the pictures of the above graphs are not the correct size for the finished lace.  If you wish to make up these patterns, then they will have to be drawn out onto the 10 to 1 inch graph paper.- use the pattern section below as a guide.
