Taking
French Leave
If the weather’s getting
you down, how about considering some French Leave?
Why not join me in France for a week in September (20 – 27) for a fun look at making chic accessories to banish next winter’s blues… while taking advantage of full board with wine included, a swimming pool and excursions to Cognac and Saintes.
Christine and Graham Dove have asked me to lead a Lace Holiday at the gite complex they run in a restored monastery in the Charente Maritime, Le Vieux Monastere;
check their website at www.levieuxmonastere.com, and see further details at courses.
Just get yourself to La Rochelle and they will take care of the rest. They started running knitting holidays
in 2006 – Sasha Kagan and Jean Moss will lead the third in May – and are now adding lace.
We shall look at how to find inspiration from the world around us, try interesting threads from our sponsors Texere, see how to take a tip from
fashion magazines, and prove that modern ideas can be practical, quick and classy.
See you there!

Threads from many countries will be on hand
for you to sample on the French course, including some of Texere’s exciting ranges of silks and linens.
This example is a piece of truly international lace from last year’s Rhythms and Cycles exhibition - taking the Bone Lace pattern with threads from Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Texere, England.
